ASNE will host three Minority Leadership Institutes in the upcoming months:

Each institute will provide leadership and management training to about 16 mid-level editors and news directors from news organizations around the country.

The Minority Leadership Institute is a program that ASNE started in 2012 with the goal of training minority journalists to become leaders in their organizations and in the industry. ASNE has trained more than 100 news leaders since its inception.

"American media need more minority leaders and executives, and ASNE is committed to helping fill that pipeline with talent," said ASNE President Chris Peck, associate editor of The Riverton (Wyo.) Ranger. "The feedback on our Minority Leadership Institute training sessions is fantastic. We know this program works."

The institutes are underwritten by generous contributions from the American Press Institute, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Loyola University Chicago's School of Communication and the Scripps Howard Foundation.

Candidates must apply to the specific institute of their choice to be considered.
